How to Get a Battery Health Report in Windows 10 or 11

  1. Open CMD as an Admin
  2. Enter the following command
    powercfg /batteryreport /output c:\breport.html
  3. Open the report and scroll down to look for:
Design Capacity – (capacity when brand new)
Full Charge Capacity – (capacity it can currently hold when fully charged)
Cycle Count – (How many times the battery went through a full charge)

Another option is to use a free utility called BatteryInfoView from Nirsoft

Test storage media

To test storage media for errors or to check if you purchased bogus storage media, you can use either use Disk Check that is built into Windows or Media Tester.

To use Disk Check open File Explorer, right-clicking on the drive, selecting Properties, click on the Tools tab and then clicking Check. Even if it says you don’t need to scan the drive, scan it.

Media Tester – open the program, click on the 2 dot browse button next to the Target box. Select the storage media, click OK and choose ‘Write and Verify’.
