During the installation of your Brother printer drive you are asked how you are being connected your printer. If you select wired or wireless network it will then search for your printer. But within 5 seconds it says that it can’t find the printer.

The advise on the Brother website is to check:

1) that your firewall is off

2) that the computer is on the same network as the printer

3) to reset the network card on the printer

I have come across this problem on a network with 2 brother printers and I couldn’t set them both up on a new commuter. Surprisingly step 3, to reset the printers network card, worked.
